Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts Awarded 3-Year Grant from Greater Rochester Health Foundation to Extend Social Emotional Learning Specialist Position.

Rochester, NY – Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a transformative three-year grant from the Greater Rochester Health Foundation. This funding will support the expansion of the Social Emotional Learning Specialist position, a role that has proven to be instrumental in fostering the social-emotional well-being of our students.

Since returning to face-to-face instruction during the pandemic, the Social Emotional Learning Specialist has been a cornerstone of our commitment to student wellness. This position has played a crucial role in enhancing our students' social-emotional knowledge, improving conflict resolution skills, and implementing restorative practices that foster a positive school environment. With the support of the Greater Rochester Health Foundation, we have seen remarkable growth in our students’ ability to navigate challenges and develop healthy relationships.

“We are deeply grateful to the Greater Rochester Health Foundation for their continued support,” said Dr. Cait Loury, Chief Educational Officer of Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts. “This grant will allow us to enhance our programs further and ensure that every student has access to the resources they need to thrive both academically and emotionally. It underscores our commitment to nurturing not just the minds, but also the social and emotional well-being of our students.”

The expanded role will focus on providing targeted interventions, supporting training programs for staff, participating in the facilitation of student groups such as Peer Mediators, and fostering a school-wide culture of empathy and resilience. With an emphasis on evidence-based practices, the Social Emotional Learning Specialist will work collaboratively alongside RA’s mental health team as well as teachers, parents, and community organizations to create a comprehensive support system for all students.

As Renaissance Academy continues to evolve and expand its offerings, this grant marks a significant milestone in our mission to create a supportive and enriching educational environment for all students. We look forward to sharing updates on the positive changes and outcomes resulting from this vital partnership.
